‘The Windows of New York’ project by designer jose guizar check out the web site here.
“The Windows of New York project is a weekly illustrated fix for an obsession that has increasingly grown in me since chance put me in this town. A product of countless steps of journey through the city streets, this is a collection of windows that somehow have caught my restless eye out from the never-ending buzz of the city. This project is part an ode to architecture and part a self-challenge to never stop looking up.”
It’s not often that we get to ‘stick it to the man’ by shopping local and not relying on the monopolised supermarkets for our grocery shopping. But when gathering ingredients locally great things can be created, and inspiration can come from something as simple as picking out a few vegetables. Reminiscing earlier about a trip to Andalusia called for a Mediterranean supper of roasted Mediterranean vegetable couscous, patats bravas, grilled halloumi with humous and pitta.

The sun came out briefly this morning, but soon gave way to the same bleak sky.
The day moved slowly, and traces of sunlight could be found in the creases the house.

This great story about a poet who named buildings. This of course could only happen in Chile, for to quote Bolano (out of context) “Chilean poetry is a dog and now it lives out under inclement skies again.”
If only this could happen in London, some of us could be gainfully employed.

/St Mary’s Kitchen/
Unlike Jiro, I never wake in the middle of the night having visions of sushi, but after my first attempt at making it I am one step closer to understanding sushi and why people dedicate their lives to its art.
I took to St Mary’s kitchen with a bag of radishes, a cucumber, pickled ginger, sushi rice, rice vinegar and nori; a combination of very few ingredients that create such satisfaction and depth in flavour, proving that “ultimate simplicity leads to purity”.
So whether you are in Itadaki Zen or Japan Centre of London or at Ch-Ya of San Francisco and Berkley over the next few days, here’s to Jiro’s dreaming.
